Tom
Hewitson (Mandolin, Guitar)
Tom Hewitson was given a great musical heritage. His grandfather Ellis
Clyde was a great saxophone and clarinet player and the head of "Slip
& Slide with Ellis Clyde." Tom's great-grandfather, Paddy Clyde,
was a mandolin player and leader of his own band.
He
seemed destined for music and art and at the age of six received
a pearl drum set for Christmas. At 13 he found the guitar and was inspired
by rock and country bands at the time. He plays the drums, guitar, bass,
banjo, mandolin, piano, and harmonica. He even toured with the band
"Beach Brothers" in 1979 and played the harmonica/blues.
Tom
likes almost all types of music, and musicians who have influenced his
music come from all genres of music. He tributes Nugent, Aerosmith,
Chet Atkins, Willie Nelson, Doc Watson, David Grisman, and Les Paul
with his love for music.
Tom,
the mandolin player for Enoch Train, loves to perform with the band.
"The challenge of complex arrangements keeps me on top of my game
and the music is all based on styles and content that I love and am
passionate about."
Tom's
job as Art Director for Deseret Book keeps him very busy. His hobbies
include his family, art, and health and fitness. He finds time to squeeze
in his calling in the LDS Church of Priest's Advisor. He did the artwork
for Enoch Train's new album, "Set Sail". Music plays a very
important role in his life and provides music for his soul.
Tom
and his wife Joanie have been married for almost 19 years. They have
two wonderful daughters Alyssa, 6 ½ and Natalie, 4 ½
